Police Arrest Four Suspects in Nakasongola Security Operation

Police in Nakasongola District have arrested four suspects during a joint security operation conducted in Kakooge Town Council following a recent rise in criminal activity in the area.

According to a statement issued by Savannah Regional Police spokesperson ASP Sam Twiineamazima, the operation was carried out on May 20, 2026, after residents reported a surge in robberies, assaults, and a recent murder in Kakooge Town Council and surrounding communities.

The suspects have been identified as Livingstone Kakooza, 24, Wilber Nyombi, 24, Ibrahim Ketwen, 19, and Daniel Lukwago, 25.

Police say the group is suspected to be linked to several incidents that have contributed to fear and insecurity among residents.

ASP Twiineamazima said the operation was intelligence-led and involved joint security teams aimed at restoring order and strengthening safety in the district.

“We urge members of the public with information relevant to these cases to come forward and assist with investigations as more operations continue to curtail criminality in the entire district,” he said.

Security agencies have since expanded operations across different parts of Nakasongola District as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle suspected criminal networks and restore public confidence in security.

Police have urged residents to remain alert and cooperate with law enforcement by reporting suspicious activity to nearby authorities.

The crackdown follows growing concern among residents over insecurity in Kakooge Town Council, with local leaders calling for increased patrols and stronger preventive measures to protect lives and property.

Authorities have assured the public that operations will continue until calm and stability are fully restored in the district.
